Problem with handsontable-skills marketplace plugin

I installed your marketplace plugin but Claude won’t load it. Here’s why (according to Claude):

The bug is in how Handsontable packaged the plugin (v1.0.0). Its marketplace.json entry uses “strict”: false and lists skills, and the repo also ships a .claude-plugin/plugin.json. Claude Code 2.1.296 counts that as two manifests both defining the plugin’s contents, so it refuses to load the plugin.

Please let me know if you need more information.

Thanks.

Thanks for the report! Your diagnosis is right. Recent Claude Code versions reject a marketplace entry that sets "strict": false and lists skills when the repo also has a plugin.json. And claude plugin validate doesn’t flag it, which is why it got past us.

It’s fixed in handsontable-skills#29. To pick it up, refresh the marketplace:

claude plugin marketplace update handsontable-skills

You don’t need to reinstall the plugin. Restart Claude Code, and claude plugin list should show handsontable-skills as enabled with no error.

We’ve also added a CI check that installs the plugin with the latest Claude Code on every change and once a week, so a future loader change shouldn’t break it silently again.

Thanks again for the heads up!

You’re welcome.

We did not pick up your new version (which we have a process for) as you did not bump your version (e.g. to 1.0.1). When you bump your version we’ll get it.

Thanks.
