Can we split cells in handsontable ?
There is a plugin available
Can you please check the compatability of the handsontable with that plugin .

Is that something similar to https://handsontable.com/docs/7.3.0/demo-merged-cells.html but working the opposite way?
That would be great but we do not offer this functionality (yet
